Rick Shetter is the project leader of the ARIM (Atmospheric Radiation Investigations and Measurements) group at ACD/NCAR. The main activity of the group consists in the direct measurement of spectrally resolved solar actinic flux in the UV and visible ranges, from which the photolysis rates of many molecular reactions can be calculated, and in comparing with results from radiative transfer models. The ARIM group is heavily involved in field campaigns both on airborne platforms (TOPSE, PEMTB, TRACEP, SOLVE) and for ground-based experiment (ISCAT, PROPHET, SOS, TEXAQS 2000). Rick Shetter is also jointly responsible for the chemistry instrumentation instaled on the RAF/NCAR C-130 research aircraft.
